Medical/Well-being Information

We believe that all pupils with medical conditions should be properly supported so that they have full access to education, including school trips and physical education.

If your child has a medical condition that may require administration of emergency medication e.g. anti-histamine, arrangements for this should be discussed with the Medical Needs co-ordinator, Mrs T Kennedy, immediately.  An individual healthcare plan will be devised in conjunction with the School Nurse Service and prescribed medication must be provided which will be kept in the SLT office.  Following the guidelines issued by the Medical Needs in School Team, if the medication is administered your child will need to be collected from school as soon as possible.

School staff are not permitted to administer any other medication during the school day e.g. anti-biotics.  If your child is taking such medication, the times should be organised around the school day. Children who require the use of an inhaler should have a clearly labelled, prescribed inhaler in school at all times.  This will be kept in the classroom and the pupil will take responsibility for this at an age appropriate level.

We have a team of trained staff who hold relevant First Aid qualifications.  If your child requires attention during the school day, they will bring a completed note home with details of the injury and treatment received.  If the injury is of a more serious nature, you will be contacted and may be requested to collect your child.

It is therefore extremely important that you ensure that the school office has the most up to date contact details for all of the named contacts on the system.  We have a close working relationship with the School Nursing Team .  If you would like to speak to the school Nurse, please contact Mrs Kennedy in the main school office on 0121 464 4519 or email t.kennedy@rosaryrc.bham.sch.uk to book an appointment.

Parents: Do you need help right now?

The AFC (Anna Frued Centre) Crisis Messenger text service is a free, confidential, 24/7 text message support service for anyone who is feeling overwhelmed or is struggling to cope. The service is staffed by trained volunteers who will work with you to take your next steps towards feeling better.

We can help with issues such as anxiety, worry, panic attacks, bullying and depression and are here to talk at any time of day or night.

If you need support, you can text AFC to 85258.

We know that finding the right support is important, especially if you need someone to talk to right now. We aim to connect every texter to a trained volunteer promptly to provide crisis help. They will listen to you and help you think more clearly, enabling you to know that you can take the next step to feeling better
