This Harvest we have again collected food for the SIFA Fireside to support the vulnerable and homeless of Birmingham.
The children have decided that as the Season of Creation draws to a close they want to do something to make a difference to the people affected most by climate change. Many of our families have links to Pakistan and have seen the devastating impact of the recent floods. As part of CAFOD family fast day the children are going to give up a treat and donate the money as part of our fundraising day on Monday 10th October. To spread the message children will wear green on this day.
The children have been busy baking for our Macmillan cake sale.
Charitable Outreach:
At the Rosary, we reach out to different charities throughout the year. During October, our children kindly donate tins and packets of food for our Harvest Festival, in order to support the FireSide Centre. In the season of Lent, all of our year groups take part in a Lenten activity to raise money for different charities:
All of our children have been given Good Shepherd Appeal boxes, so they donate any loose change they have during Lent.
This year, we have also supported St Marys in Andhra Pradesh, India by having a brighter today for a brighter tomorrow non-school uniform day. The money raised went towards buying a projector for one of the classrooms.
We understand the importance of supporting those in need just as it says in the Bible, ‘Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord and he will repay him for his deed.’ Proverbs 19:17.
