At the Rosary School we have designed the curriculum with Christ at the centre promoting the formation of the whole person equipped with the learning and skills to be a contributing global citizen.
The curriculum has been designed to build on previous learning, provide first hand learning experiences and enable pupils to develop the knowledge and skills to become resilient, creative and critical thinkers.
We recognise that each child is a unique individual as in the words of St Therese of Lisieux;
“I understood that every flower created by Him is beautiful, that the brilliance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not lessen the perfume of the violet or the sweet simplicity of the daisy. I understood that if all the lowly flowers wished to be roses, nature would no longer be enamelled with lovely hues. And so it is in the world of souls, Our lord's living garden.”
Our curriculum is underpinned by the teaching of knowledge, vocabulary, skills concepts, values and virtues. It is based on developing the key knowledge and skills identified for each subject area while ensuring that knowledge in embedded in long term memory through contextualised learning. We look to provide enhancement opportunities to engage and enrich learning and provide experiences to develop cultural capital so that pupils have a curiosity for learning and new experiences and are able to transfer knowledge between many different contexts.
The curriculum will be taught with consideration towards the needs of all learners. Our curriculum will be exciting and will inspire children to nurture a passion for learning. Assessment is intrinsically linked to the curriculum and pupils will be assessed each half term against key objectives in each subject area of the curriculum.
